Eligibility Criterion for Admission
(a) A candidate for admission to the Programme for Degree of Doctor of Philosophy must have obtained at least a Second Class Masters Degree with not less than 55% of marks of a University or a Degree recognized by the University as its equivalent in the subject in which the candidate wishes to pursue a course of research or in a subject allied thereto.
(b) Provided that a relaxation to the extent of 5 % of marks in the subject concerned/ subject allied thereto will be given to the candidates with disabilities.
How to Apply:
The candidate shall apply for admission to the Ph. D. Programme on a prescribed form (Annexure - I), which may be downloaded from the University’s website, http://jmi.ac.in. The application for admission shall be submitted to the Centre concerned along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 1,000/- drawn in favor of The Registrar, Jamia Millia Islamia payable at Delhi/ New Delhi. The list of candidates found eligible to appear for an Entrance Test along with the admission schedule shall be notified on the Notice Board of the concerned Department/ Faculty/ Centre and the website of the university.
Selection Procedure:
(a) Entrance Test: The Entrance Test will be for shortlisting the applicants for purposes of consideration by the Board of Studies/ Committee of Studies. Qualifying the Entrance Test will in no way entitle the candidate to any right to admission in the Ph.D. Programme.
(b) Criterion to Qualify the Entrance Test: The candidates who obtain at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate and in each of the Part A and B separately of the Entrance Tests shall qualify for the interview.
Provided that a relaxation of up to 5 % in the qualifying marks either in aggregate OR any one of the two parts of the Question Paper may be given to the candidates with disabilities.

- Last date of submission of Application Forms: July 08, 2011 (Friday)
- Scrutiny of forms by the Office of the concerned Head/Director: July 13, 2011 (Wednesday)
- Display of the List of eligible candidates and issue/ dispatch of Admit Card to the candidates along with a copy of the detailed schedule: July 15, 2011 (Friday)
- Date & Time of Admission Test Venue: : July 23, 2011 (Saturday) Concerned Faculty (10:00A.M. to 1:00 P.M.)
- Display of list of candidates called for interview: August 01, 2011 (Monday)
