Pune: The merit list for the computer-aided Std XI centralised admission process (CAP) for 160 junior colleges in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad will be released at 5 pm on July 25.
Deputy director of education (Pune) Sunil Magar, who heads the multi-member CAP committee, said that the panel has completed the data entry processing for the 54,898 applications received under the CAP. Work on the same had started from July 7,the last date for submission of pleas.
Admission is assured for all those who have applied through the CAP as the panel had declared availability of 63,680 seats for the arts, science and commerce streams. Against this, it has received 8,782 lesser applications.
However, the panel has to deal with 4,011 surplus pleas drawn by the science stream against the declared admission capacity of 20,965 seats. Additional sections are likely to be sanctioned to junior colleges offering science stream to tackle the matter.
There are lesser concerns though for the arts and commerce streams, which have drawn 2,190 and 20,590 applications, respectively. This is less by 9,270 and 5, 790, respectively against the admission capacity declared for arts and commerce streams.
In all,71,932 forms were sold between June 28 and July 7 when the form submission process was done.
